INFORMATIOn

The Fall Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta will be held on Saturday, November 8, from 9:00am until 12:30pm at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur. This message contains many important details about the meeting—please read it carefully. Pastors, please share it with your clerk of session and elected ruling elder commissioners.

Format: Upon the decision of the presbytery’s Council, this meeting will be held fully in-person. A livestream of the meeting will be available for those who wish to follow the business from other locations, but those joining via livestream will not be able to participate in discussion, vote, or have their attendance recorded. Our morning break will feature refreshments, but lunch will not be served.

Theme, Worship, and Business: Our theme for 2025 is Beyond the Building: Living as Grounded Disciples in the World. At this meeting, we will be exploring the ways God’s people experience and reimagine God’s presence when they encounter the transformative and unconventional ways of Jesus. For the sermon, we will welcome Rev. Damon P. Williams, Senior Pastor of the historic Providence Missionary Baptist Church in southwest Atlanta.

In the business of the meeting, we will hear updates from Presbytery committees and commissions, consider a recommendation for changes to the Presbytery’s staff structure that has emerged from the Unified Conversations process, and examine several persons to be ordained as ministers of the Word and Sacrament. As part of our worship, we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper and remember those ruling elders and ministers who died over the last year.

The commissioner handbook with the full business for the meeting will be available on this page by Thursday, October 30.

Pre-Registration for the Meeting: Online pre-registration is strongly encouraged by the deadline of Tuesday, November 4 so that our hosts can be prepared to welcome us and other arrangements can be made to support the meeting. The pre-registration process is available using the links above.

Childcare: Childcare will be available at this meeting if requested through the pre-registration process by Monday, October 27.

Health and Safety: We encourage all attendees to use the time between now and the meeting to get current with covid and other vaccinations, and those who do not feel well on the day of the meeting should stay home. All are welcome to wear a mask throughout the meeting if they feel more comfortable doing so.

Pastors and clerks of session, please share this information with your ruling elder commissioners now so that they can register by the November 4 deadline.

If you have any questions about the meeting, contact Stated Clerk Andy James at cajames@atlpcusa.org. We look forward to seeing you on November 8!
