New Church Development Commission (NCDC)
(Must be ordained ruling/teaching elder)
Overview:
New Church Development Commission, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Religious/Church-Affiliated Nonprofit Organization, which has been commissioned to work with new worshiping communities/new church developments. To fulfill its commission, the NCDC functions as a classic start-up studio, offering the following services that we call L.I.N.C.S.S.:
L – Leadership Coaching
I – Infrastructure Development Support, such as
Obtaining 501c3 status
Establishing and Managing Online Giving Links
Providing Financial Oversight
Startup Payroll Services
Homeland Security Visas
Financial Policy Development
Opening Bank Accounts
Receiving, Processing, and Reporting Tax Deductible Contributions
Insurance quotes, acquisition, renewals, and/or verification
NWC leaders in the ordination process
Incorporation
Crafting By-Laws
Chartering in the PCUSA
N - Networking Events
C – Community Consulting
S - Startup Training
S - Strategic Grants
While the NCDC staff does much of the assessment of new church possibilities, recruitment, training, coaching, and nurture of the new worshiping communities and their leaders, the full commission networks and builds relationships with new worshiping communities and their leaders, develops and administers funds, casts vision, and charters new churches.
Requirements:
An election to serve as a Commissioner of NCDC is an election to serve as a Board member of a nonprofit organization. As such, full participation in Board meetings and a pledge of financial support (each Commissioner as they are able) are expected.
Board meetings require a quorum. Therefore, a Commissioner shall have no more than two (2) unexcused absences from scheduled meetings.
Each Commissioner serves on one of three subcommittees. A representative from each committee also serves on the Executive Committee.
Experience with new church development is a plus, but not required. Creativity, energy, and a passion for new people and new ways of being church are highly desired.
Terms of Service: Three-year term (elected), eligible for re-election for a total of two consecutive terms/six years.
Meetings: A majority of the NCDC meetings will be held virtually until further notice.
