Day 1: The Rev. Mark Ramsey

The Rev. Mark Ramsey to preach on “Day1”

Executive Director of The Ministry Collaborative

The Rev. Mark Ramsey, executive director of The Ministry Collaborative, is the featured preacher for Easter Sunday, April 20, on “Day1” with host Katie Givens Kime, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast. Hear "Day1" in the Atlanta area on WSB 95.5 and 750 AM Sundays at 7:05 a.m.

“Capacity” is drawn from John 20:1-18, the account of Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter, and the other disciple finding the tomb of Jesus empty. Mary lingers weeping outside the tomb and encounters the risen Jesus.  “On this Easter Day, can we resolve NOT to live in a smaller world than God has given to us?” he asks. “Another way to say that is to pose the question: Whose story will you live today?

Your own…or God’s? Pulling the covers up to shut out the world, or doom scrolling the latest political ploys, or the most recent viral Instagram post … these are a pale version of living.”

Ramsey has served as Executive Director of The Ministry Collaborative since 2018. The Ministry Collaborative, a project of the Macedonian Ministry Foundation, is committed to developing a national network of pastors and congregations committed to faithful, creative, and collaborative engagement in their communities. He earlier served as senior pastor in churches in Austin, Texas, Asheville, N.C., Oak Park, Ill., Denver, and East Lansing, Mich. He starting ordained ministry as an associate pastor in Bethesda, Md. He has been a preacher for Montreat Conference Center’s summer worship series and for “Day1.” He is a frequent contributor to Journal for Preachers and succeeded the founder Erskine Clarke as publisher. He has written selections for Feasting on the Gospels and Connections. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He preaches, teaches, and leads retreats often for clergy groups, church boards, and congregations. A native of Central Illinois, he is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received his M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He and his wife Elizabeth Lynn co-write the TMC weekly blog, “Digging a Deeper Well,” offering spiritual resources for church boards.

The program includes interviews with Ramsey conducted by Kime, who is also executive producer.

“Day1” has been broadcast every week for 80 years, formerly as “The Protestant Hour.” Featuring outstanding preachers from the mainline denominations, “Day1” is currently distributed to radio stations across America and overseas. The program is produced by the Alliance for Christian Media, based in Atlanta. For more information, check the program’s website, http://day1.org.
