The very first worship service for Alpharetta Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) was held in the cafeteria of Milton High School on Sunday, November 2, 1986. A lot has changed since then! Today, the congregation enjoys a large campus on Academy Street near Alpharetta City Center which also houses APC Dayschool, a popular half-day program for Alpharetta children. The church property has grown to include playgrounds, a labyrinth, prayer chapel, memorial garden, outdoor classroom and a new “Field of Dreams” for children’s soccer. The original sanctuary now houses a theater.
Even as the congregation continues to grow, APC retains the “family feel” and warmth that the church is known for. Children who grew up in the church nursery are now adult Elders. Life-long friendships have been formed through study groups and volunteer committees and by working side-by-side to support local, national and international mission partners.
The Rev. Dr. Ollie Wagner, who has served as APC’s Senior Pastor for the past 18 years, says “APC has been a great blessing to its members, APC Dayschool students and families, and the larger community. We give thanks for 40 years of faithful, creative, impactful and joyful ministry and are excited about the new chapter of church life that, by God’s grace, will next be written.”
A 40th Anniversary Homecoming BBQ dinner and celebration will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 5-6:30pm in Fellowship Hall. Friends of the church are encouraged to attend.
